Richard Thompson's Cul de Sac, is a comic strip about the life of a pre-school girl named Alice Otterloop. It is a light-hearted comic strip centered around a four-year old girl and her suburban life experiences on a cul-de-sac with her friends Beni and Dill, older brother Petey and her classmates at Blisshaven Academy pre-school. Alice describes her father's car as a "Honda-Tonka Cuisinart" and talks to the class guinea pig, Mr. Danders. She has the typical older brother who plays jokes on her, and she contemplates ways to keep the scary clown from jumping out of the jack-in-the-box with friends.

Ah yes, I was sure that Miss Bliss would want a stiff drink after this was over.

There was always that locked bottom drawer in the teachers desk throughout elementary school.

Golly! Miss Bliss drives the minibus, too! Maybe Ranger Dan can do something to help calm her nerves, hmm?

We had an incident here where a school bus driver drove the students while drunk. Apparently, some of the students actually had to call the police on their cellphones.
When they finally pulled him over, he remarked, "If you had my job, you’d drink too!’

The wheels on the bus go ’round and ’round, ’round and ’round, ’round and ’round.

The associative thinking that’s going on in that bus is more or less what goes on in my head.

We should teach the kids to sing “One bottle of beer on the wall.”
Hasn’t Miss Bliss discovered the secret of letting parent volunteers drive? That way she has a lower level of insanity to deal with herself, and can commiserate with another adult when Alice implodes.

“. . . and ’round and ’round…”
Good quote. Unfortunately, it reminds me of the amalgam our four-year old granddaughter
came up with after I’d been singing songs to her during her bath: “♫ I been workin’ on a wainbow,
All fwoo a town . . .”

When I was a kid we would drive from California to Texas and back every year on my Dad’s leave. Three kids so we sang in the back seat. Row, row row your boat in three rounds and three part harmony. There were other songs too. Mile after mile on Rt 66 back in the two lane asphalt days. No A/C either. A lot more fun in recall than in real time. :-)

We went back east twice from the west coast. I’m sure that my parents were sick of 99 bottles of beer after a month.

They probably needed 99 bottles of beer after a month… I know mine did…
