Frazz by Jef Mallett for October 10, 2012
Transcript:
Caulfield; The system is rigged. If I'm too young to vote, I'm too young to vote for someone who will push for an amendment to lower the voting age. Frazz: And yet you just display a better understanding of government than most adults. Caulfield: Yeah, except mostly I want to vote against who looks crabbiest.

Start a pettion drive, around 18 get elected to be elective as a representative, at least 25 be a senator, or be elected president.
What would be a great help is go through without try to challenge authority or try to get out work that is assigned to you.
You don’t have to totally agree what is taught just earned the diploma, you can’t make the changes if you are not a high school or college graduate. So get to work and stop trying to make every educator’s job harder.

I say we raise the driving age to 21, the voting age to 25, and the drinking age to 30 — and as for going to war, draft ’em as soon as they learn to cuss.

Actually, back in the ‘Good Old Days of Merrie England’ Naval Recruiters frequently met their quotas by buying rounds for a bunch of ‘likely looking lads’ who then awoke onboard.

That’s no worse than the way many people vote. He may have a point. Who wants a crabby guy in the White House?

I remember when I went in the Navy 3 days after my 18th birthday, I had to wait 3 more years (- 3 days) before I could vote at 21.

Zoidknight: Sort of like your party’s current campaign to disenfranchise anyone in college, on social security, or having more melanin than single digit on the von Lauschen chart.

Wouldn’t it be nice for voters, drivers, candidates, etc. be given a competency test? Someone asked me the other day who was running for President. REALLY?!?!?
Ability does not equal maturity – and some people NEVER mature to make good decisions.

Re: debates. I DO want a President to be able to think on his/her feet because they are representing the United States.

Don’t know if it still holds true or not, but years ago it was legal for service men and women to drink on base as long as they were 18 or older, the services acknowledged that they were willing to give their lives so they were allowed to drink.

The voting age was changed by the 26th Constitutional amendment in response to the Vietnam War: if they could draft you, you ought to be able to vote them out.
