Basically, Rayna is a student staying at home or is at another location, remotely controlling the drone (I forget exactly what it’s called) through a computer and webcam so she can attend classes.

I think this has to do with students attending school remotely due to their health problems, using robots like that.

I think it’s a dropping the fourth wall, self-aware that he’s in a comic strip joke. The “Rayna the Robot” thing is just the (somewhat awkward) set-up to the joke. Or not?

My first thought was that Rayna is a stiff, awkward, introverted student that the other kids have thoughtlessly nicknamed “Rayna the Robot,” and that the cartoonist was symbolically showing this by drawing her as a robot. But now I think that phantomcellistf is probably correct.

Rayna sounds like a Spanish version of Robby the Robot.
