What in the Sam Hill is the US afraid of Cuba for? Other than a few extra republican votes in Miami.

I don’t know. Ask Lalo, he commented here once, to this lil old NoFearPerrito. Maybe Lalo is saying the younger? Castro ended up with a better pardner for the future than Venezuela held out for? Other than that this has nothing to do with Republican votes in my eyes, Mr. Humphristotle.

It makes me think- can Obama be a good guy to Castro? And what does Latin America think of the election of Obama- are they amazed?

Raul Castro hinted that he’s willing to talk to Obama and praised him in a ‘reserved’ way, Fidel did the same at first, but now He already called Obama an accomplice to what happened in Gaza…

The majority of Cubans are now Black or mixed, and no one in Castro’s government is Black (with a couple of exceptions in minor rolls)and in the streets of Cuba people are “Talking”…

Machado, Do you think this will go anywhere or is it just a honeymoon phase of a new administration?

Who knows this time, this sweet talk happened before during other administrations, but if you go back and look at the chronology of events during a ‘thawing’ period,–and many historians have– you’ll find that Castro always finds a way to create a crisis that makes it impossible to continue any negotiations…….. In the end They will never agree to free elections, and without that any concessions to the Castro regime will be a farse.

We do our best business with dictatorships (China, Saudi Arabia etc) so it’s time for change in our relations with Cuba. Isolating them is not helping the Cuban people or pushing Cuba toward democracy.

You disagreed with Bush, but there was an American interest in stabilizing Afghanistan and deposing Saddam Hussein.

Obama, however, is our president, not Cuba’s. He owes allegiance to Cuban Americans as well as the American intereests that were robbed by Castro in ‘58(?).

Since the big Lib is our current President, why doesn’t he:

Close our borders Block the importation of foreign goods exported by countries that subsidize those industries against us. Cancel the immigration of foreign IT “professionals” which are in danger of putting my brother out of a job and me as well? Jobs which industry has asked DEMS and REPUb’S to import at the expense of good-paying American jobs? 4.Why do the Libs still do the “bad” that you claim the Cons did? Because both parties and their power bases are expressions of the same elitist and power-hungry philosophies; philosophies that want to eliminate accountability to the masses and especially those people who are acquainted with the benefits of freedom.

BCS, so did I at first until I learned to watch their tone. The more radical the tone then usually the reference material : 1)is more out of context, often referred to as “cherry picking” 2) is misrepresented or 3) is from a radical source and often unreliable. So you’re not alone with the frustration of wasting time and effort … PS one other thing wingnut love to post in VOLUME, I guess they think it adds validity.

humphs, was definitely wasted time and effort directed to posters, i think … if you read my post-by-post responses, though, i thought i nailed some good points, no? (guess i’m hoping it wasn’t a total waste of time ;oD )
