I bet Dakota is thinking “stupid unicorn and its stupid shield of boringness!”

No, scintillating requires much shampoo, a few conditioners, hoof polish, in Marigold’s case, horn polish, and then maybe a dusting of glitter. So, yes, high maintanence.

I almost feel sorry for Dakota, except I think she will take it out on Phoebe.

Phoebe and Dakota have had the same experience (attempting to use unicorn glory to one-up their classmates and having the plan backfire), but it hasn’t brought them any closer. sigh.

Uh-oh. I’m presuming you don’t mean THE ring – the one that destroyed Gollum. Any ring but that.

Having Dakota peeved is OK as long as she doesn’t fall back into the dreaded “meh” phase.

It’ll be OK, Dakota. There’ll be plenty of others who will have a conversation with you if that’s what you want.

I can SO hear Marigold’s tone in the last panel!

I can’t really say it’s Marigold’s fault. Dakota knows about the Shield Of Boringness and could have asked Marigold to lower it when she rode in, but she didn’t. So she has nobody to blame but herself.

There is no way that I see Marigold being talked into lowering the ¤Shield of Boringness¤ just so that Dakota should show off and impress. Her ¤Shield of Boringness¤ is a critical protection for her; Marigold wouldn’t even totally lower it for Phoebe’s parents. And the only reason she completely lowered it for Dakota was to break the malevolent VORTEX OF MEH enchantment that had befallen Dakota and was subsequently threatening the entire world.

I’d feel sorrier for Dakota if I hadn’t seen her SODAKOTA feed. Instead, now all I feel for her is that of just Karmic upcommance.

I wonder if one unicorn’s SHIELD OF BORINGNESS would work on another unicorn. Or does it just work on humans and predadors? Maybe that’s why Marigold doesn’t remember her parents. They forgot to lower their SHIELDS when they were raising her.Dakota will remember this as the worst birthday ever. Phoebe will still be an outsider, but she’ll realize it’s better that way.

So Dakota’s party did backfired.

Phoebe looks like she feels sorry for Dakota.
