mikefive – Yes, you have a short attention span. And these are not just gaffes, they are character issues. Sometimes they are people misspeaking and sometimes they reveal deep flaws. All of them are reasons to evaluate candidates who make decisions about our lives. Akin BELIEVED what he said, it wasn’t a gaffe, any more than the millions of Pat Robertson supporters, or other “conservatives” who believe the same felt it was a “gaffe” before he got caught up in it.

Romney said Obama “shackled” corporations. Biden pointed out continuing, or further deregulating “financial” corporations WILL “chain” folks to the will of those powerful entities. It was NOT a “gaffe”, just reiterating reality.

Akin claims he was off by one word – saying “legitimate” rape when he meant “forcible” rape. He still believes that if a woman is forced, she won’t get pregnant. With that kind of locic, does it mean that if the woman got pregnant, she actually WANTED the rape and was not forced???? I guess that makes it the woman’s fault… He also ignores that many rape victims are on birth control.

Doesn’t matter what country or what religion or even what era in history. The people who want to deny others the right to their own choice, in wahtever area) always have a book of “religion” to prove they’re right. Looks like Akin and Ryan would fit right in with the Taliban.
