Yet the gays claim they won? Looks like Chick-Fil-A is winning.

And oddly enough two years later the same thing happened again. The same sex couples I know desire to carry on an open quiet life protesting is just not their thing.

Ten advanced countries have legalized gay marriage. All advance industrial nations have government health care covering everyone with no rip off insurance industry middleman.Religions such as the cruel christian crud and the bombs away Moslems are taught to hate in their nuthouses with steeples and minarets.KInd and loving people do not eat hate nor do they spread it. Leave the bashers and bomb throwers to fatten on Chick-ful of Hate.

Liberals are USING their free speech, which conservatives evidently object to, especially when it offends one of their favorite ignorant religious prejudices. Menino and old Rahm spoke out of turn, but there’s no reason why we can’t individually shun Chick-fil-A: that’s not only free speech, it’s capitalism! Let’s use the Law of Supply and Demand on them! And they had one good day — with a LOT of help from Fox and Mike Huckabee, but their brand image has suffered hugely:http://marketingland.com/chick-fil-a-brand-suffers-family-definition-controversy-17707

Tigger: didn’t realize Romney orchestrated those “retroactive” demonstrations back to 2010! Wow! Another “conservative accomplishment”!!!

The owner was perfectly free to express his “personal views”, as long as they don’t affect how he complies with laws, or impacts people who don’t agree. It is apparent that he’s used his “proceeds” to impact negatively those who don’t agree with his “personal views”.

I think boycotts, the over-emphasis on LGBT “issues”, which should be just “rights”, is silly, and undemocratic, but it appears it’s the “holy rollers”, who’ve really lost all perspective, or regard for the Constitution. “Evangelical Sharia” isn’t any better than the Muslim form.

“There are a lot of us who don’t mind what you do with your lives – but really dislike having you trying to tell us what we MUST believe. When you accept that your denying us our rights is the core issue – then maybe reasoned dialogue can happen. I hope to live to see it.”There are a lot of gays and lesbians who “don’t mind” what heteros do, but really dislike being told they’re ungodly hell-bound sinners who don’t deserve the same rights as hetero couples. When you accept that you’re denying us our rights is the core issue – then maybe reasoned dialogue can happen. I also hope to live to see it.

Nice to see many posts got beyond the smokescreen the corporate media is promoting. What about the Sunday closings? Is that a cover for refusing to hire Jews, Muslims, non-believers, etc. who could cover on Sunday in exchange for getting off on their day of worship? Freedom of religion does not include any right to deprive others of their freedom of religion.

I wonder what actually brought this to the forefront. I can’t imagine that anyone was surprised to hear that a guy who keeps his stores closed on Sunday wouldnt be a supporter of same-sex marriage. He didn’t even do anything to block gay marriages from becoming legal, he just expressed his opinions. Someone either needs money or wanted to be the centre of attention and decided to pick on this guy.

Gays fight and die for this country’s rights that are granted to others and denied to them. Even Dick Cheney is for same sex marraige. ………..http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/30/dick-cheney-gay-marriage_n_1718779.html

It’s not about Gay marriage. It’s about a CEO using corporate funds to promote legislation around the world to criminalize homosexuality, subject to a penalty of death.

My understanding (which may be incomplete):It’s not merely that Cathy spoke publically against same-sex marriage, it’is that he financially supports anti-same-sex marriage campaigns, using his Chik-Fil-A profits. So the money that you spend in his restaurants (including his franchisees) goes towards preventing marriage equality. Still within his constitutional rights, but provides a worthwhile motivation for a boycott.

Whatever sales bump they get from “Chik-Fil-A Appreciation Days” will likely be temporary, once the buzz has died down and it’s out of the news cycle, but an ongoing avoidance of the restaurants by gays and gay-friendly heteros may in the long run limit the corporate bottom line. Nobody’s constitutional rights are being trampled, but mixing in controversial politics is often bad for business.

But what do I know? I’ve never been in one of his restaurants, since I’ve never lived anywhere that had them.

“No one is forced to buy a Chick-fil-a franchise. You know going in that’s the deal. Don’t like it? Buy a Wendy’s.”It’s still forcing his belief on anyone who wants to purchase his franchise.

“No one is forced to buy a Chick-fil-a franchise. You know going in that’s the deal. Don’t like it? Buy a Wendy’s.”Billionaire, Nelson Peltz who owns the Wendy’s brand contributes to conservative candidates and causes as well.Better move is to open a franchise that doesn’t dabble in partisan politics. Best move is to open your own shop and cut the corporate types out of the money. Too bad more people don’t support those places over the fast food chains.

“If someone states he believes in and follows the Bible, then THIS is what he is supporting.”-——————————————————————————————-.I gave up on the Bible after finding so many contradictions and discovering that people “pick & choose” what they want to believe..That’s why I’m agnostic.

^ Thanks for that clarification. It appears that I, too, am a Bright – so I’ll have to stop calling myself an agnostic..@ longcat -Actually, I did an internet search (using qrobe.it, which combines a number of engines). There was such an extended list of possibilities I thought it simpler just to ask DrCanuck.

“Plus, we all have our personal takes on the issue so it’s always good to get a range of opinions. Which points resonate with you?”-————————————————————————————To which “issue” are you referring? The one between Chick-fil-A and homosexuals, or the one concerning religions? Or did you mean the points in the definition of “Bright”?

I’m somewhere near the atheist POV, and enjoy and applaud Dawkins and Dennett et al and all their attempts to move discussions forward. I also resent the term “atheist” for the same reasons stated here. However, I cannot stand the term “brights”. Can’t they think of something less….arrogant? There are some very bright theists around who (believe it or not) make up their minds on the basis of reason and evidence, and are FOR science, philosophy, knowledge, intelligence, education, the arts, technology, families, morality, freedom, civilization, and all else that makes us human.“Bright” is more offensive than “atheist”.
