Because liberals want us disarmed so we cannot defend ourselves. Every country that has outlawed firearms has had a dramatic increase in violent crime.

Why? Because we, as Americans, are supposed to be better than that. Sadly, we don’t seem to be.

I thought the point of the cartoon was that gun control ought to start at the top. I’m all for disarmament as long as our lords and masters go first.

    Yes indeed.

I’ve wondered if it were not better to have narcotics sold by the government. Then they would be clean and pure. The profits wouldn’t be going to criminals, as they did during prohibition.

As for prostitution, if it was legalized, the sex workers would be protected, and sexually transmitted disease would drop. http://articles.latimes.com/1991-08-26/news/mn-888_1_public-health-study

Basically, the AR-15 is a pretty crummy “hunting rifle”, and the AK-47 is more accurate, more “hit” with the 7.62 round, but still can’t match a standard Ruger M-77 for accuracy, and you can vary the caliber you choose to match the game. M-10(Mac 10) are on the streets in gangs, and at over 1,000 rounds per minute, concealable, and easy to get, should be banned. MEANING, anyone who SELLS one used in a crime illegally, DOES THE TIME FOR THE CRIME, EVEN HOMICIDE IN DRIVE BY.

We CAN reduce the danger by minor changes regarding “people hunting” weapons, with more severe PENALTIES FOR SALE, or “use” thereof. These restrictions need have NO IMPACT on actual hunting, target, or “sporting” weapons.

Limit all rifles and shotguns to 5 rounds. Limit all “pistols” (which includes M-10’s) to 12 round clips (call ’em “magazines” if you insist) and the lethality of these weapons would decline greatly.

We’re killing 25+ a day, down from over 30, IN CRIMINAL USE OF FIREARMS, and the culture needs to change, and a step forward is reducing the risk. Auto makers HAVE engineered far more safety into our cars, seat belts, crush space, better brakes, etc, and gun manufacturers can also engineer “safer” weapons by reducing the ease of high impact damage.

Extreme gun advocate often point to a single violent incident as proof that restricting gun ownership does not reduce violent crime. Norway is a frequently-cited example – see Tigger, above. But in 2010 Norway had a homicide rate of .68 per 100,000 people while the U.S. had a rate of 4.7 per – or about 7 times the Norwegian rate. So it turns out that Norway IS a good example; but for the other side of the argument.

sw: haven’t fired an actual AK since ’Nam, good weapon, actually. The SKS, and other “ripoffs” being sold in the U.S. are NOT Russian “Aks” and are junk, nowhere near as accurate, or reliable.
