We could use more wind turbines. Here in kansas the wind is set on high and the temperature is set on hot.Last summer we had lots of back to back 100*+ then winter was a non-winter. A good but early spring and now it’s the hair-drier on high. It’s hard not to believe it in this area.
Ahab, Tom, etc – The point IS that NO amout of solar energy is going to produce what America needs to FUNCTION! Go live in the 1800’s if YOU want, leave the rest of the world to move on without you!

In my experience most deniers … particularly those that conflate weather with climate as a means of dismissing the threat … definitely have their heads stuck some where … but it ain’t in the sand.

It’s not an ostrich, but a goose. We WILL need to use ALL alternatives in a mix, fossil, wind, solar, hydro, and yes, nuclear, but in smaller “plants” scattered around with less waste to transmission, and much more efficient “people movers”. Industry AND “envronmental” extremists (BOTH have extremists) need to back off and get real, because climate change IS! WE can start to fix the major problems, but it’s time to put survival ahead of profit.
The trouble with Global Warming is that it is a process rather than a single catastrophic event. Far easier to deny something that doesn’t happen all at once.
