Seeing the world through the prism of R><D makes one ignorant. Notice none of the comments so far deals with the moral deal with the devil many “progressives” make to justify their Obama support. Maybe because it’s right on target.

You mean like Obama is doing with Iran, Syria, and Libya?

Boy I read the comments on this cartoon and I am suddenly worried the country is really in trouble. Apparently nobody has a clue about who started the last two big wars and racists abound.

“including unfit to be President”. Please provide references that prove this statement. I will listen with an open mind, but such a statement requires some basis in fact.

Again with the drones. Bombs, grenades, bullets, sllngshots, throwing knives . bomarangs, and artillery shells that have no guidance are fine, but one that can actually target an enemy you have trouble with. I thought the whole idea was to hit what you aim at.

This is terrible reasoning (and, by the way, I"m a long-time admirer of Mr. Rall’s work): Do you think Mitt Romney is going to cancel the drone program? Ha! While I don’t believe in marching in lock step, it’s revealing that this cartoonist attacks Democrats more than Republicans in election years. Don’t we all miss Generalissmo El Busho … ;)

Keep in mind that Mitt, by revoking Obamacare alone, would kill over 30,000 Americans every year. It kind of overbalances the drone thing, unpleasant though that is. Add in the cuts to food stamps and hiking taxes on the poor to pay for tax cuts on the rich, and bringing back the Bush fiscal AND foreign policy team, and there’s really no rational choice. Any thinking, caring person has to vote for Obama.

Ted Rall, Why don’t you put your talents to GOOD use and start supporting a National Convention dedicated to eradicating campaign finance evils?http://www.national-convention.com/index.html

I’ve got to hand it to Rall. While every other leftist/collectivist cartoonist regards Obama as the axis from which the universe revolves around, he sees him as a very faulted and fractured human being. That’s very refreshing.

All true… but really, you don’t think Romney will be just as bloodthirsty?? Who are the most interested and loud about starting and continuing wars, Republicans or Democrats? Just go look at the news. If you must criticize Obama on this, at least try to be a little more even-handed about it, ok?

sometimes i LOVE your work Ted, sometimes i question your intelligence- of course, any one who is president of US would be doing the same crap as Obama as done that is CRAP— the question is if denigrating Obama serves your purpose- Do you prefer Romney? You can bet you twinkling ass he would be 10X worse & create even more enemies— so if thats what you want, keep pounding away- it is your choice- meanwhile- i see your comix being reproduced by right wing bloggers so if that’s your goal – wow— Ann Coulter & Sean Hannity are your fan base? Silly me but i think you are being a bit hard on the Prez who would be crucified by the majority of the American voters if he did not aggressively pursue some of these policies- i am not suggesting i agree with them- but Democracy is messy- and Americans tend to be shit for brain morons who would vote for an idiot like Dubya- oh right, they already did— Why not save a little more vitriol for Romney unless you love Mormons who are megarich bullies & then Mittens is your man—

I don’t think we should give Obama a pass on everything just because Romney would be worse. If the drone program is wrong, we should say so. But is it? Walrus makes a good point — ordinary (did I say “ordinary”?) bombing is far less discriminating, artillery perhaps not as bad as bombing, but still not very accurate, and probably the drones have a better ratio of “civilian” to “combatant” deaths. But this kind of calculation is what moves me towards pacificism. It’s almost always all too easy to sit at a distance and say, Okay, bomb ’em, or drone ’em, or whatever. Has any US military action since WWII been morally justifiable? Certainly not Vietnam, certainly not Iraq.

False choice, any POTUS (maybe even Romney) would use drones on Al Qaeda.

When the government decides Cialis is no longer a safe medication, men will complain that the Government interferes with their personal choices. But beware, Republicans are also looking into regulating birth control, which should include condoms. And drones don’t kill people-people kill people. Just getting there before the NRA does…

Anyone who says “well aren’t precision drones better than carpet bombing?” needs to realize that we’re using these things against nations we are not at war with (like the drone strike in the Philippines last month). What would our reaction be if the Soviet Union or China were droning soveriegn nations? Or (if you have the capacity) just imagine if some other nation started droning people on U.S. soil… we’d perceive that as an act of war. And rightly so. But since we’re so “big”, and nobody can tell us no, apparently that makes it right. There is no justification for terrorism, but it’s no wonder so many people in this world hate us more than we can possibly imagine. Droning outsde of a war zone is murder, plain and simple. And anyone who thinks otherwise needs to have a very long think about what is going on, and what their government is doing in their name.

He’s built a false analogy here. While Romney and Obama nominees for the Supreme Court would indeed probably vote differently on abortion, the same can not be said for how they would pursue terrorists. Bad as Obama’s record may be, I can’t imagine that Romney’s would be any better, in fact it would probably be slightly worse.
