Getting into their trouble by believing private banks were better, they woke up and told the bankers, “OK, you have stolen enough, we are taking them back and what you stole is your payment.” They recovered in less than a year. A country that doesn’t own its economy is not free. Ron Paul wants to abolish the Federal Reserve because it is government; I say abolish it because it is a consortium of private commercial banks, and return control of the economy to the government like the Constitution and founders said.
