Take away the padding and helmets, like rugby or soccer (real “foot” ball) and see the game change. Auto racing has greatly improved safety in road vehicles, because the cars absorb the energy of the crashes as a result of research and “testing”. Lining folks up to crash into each other, hit from odd angles, and whack each other, can only solve just “so much” with “technology”. (BTW, smaller, LIGHTER cars are actually IMPROVING safety! Hmm, a lesson for football??)

They’ve had improved helmet technology for more than a decade now, maybe two. One simple change is to make the helmet padded instead of hard, so the helmet absorbs some of the kinetic energy of an impact.Apparently, high school coaches protested because they liked the sound of butting heads. Every such slam indicates a potential “closed-head injury” where the brain bounces off the skull. Do that enough times, and you might end up like Muhammad Ali — if you’re lucky.Football is terribly hard on its players — the least they could do is try to make sure their BRAINS survive the experience…

They can’t change helmets to correct the real problem, which is momentum. It’s the bouncing around inside the skull that’s causing the damage. No helmet can stop that.

The use of helmits as weapons on the field of play can be seen every weekend on replays. Without helmits players wouldn’t lead with their heads and injuries will drop. The use of lether helmits in ancient times didn’t havethe same injury statistics. Maybe without helmits the players might start using their heads. What a concept although most of these “rocket scientists” can’t complete more than one year of basket weaving college.

So you’re in favor of brain damage for football players? Or can you not abandon your mindless parroting for one moment and READ THE FREAKING CARTOON?
