What’s your fixation with those big, black phallic cigars you’re always sucking on, Rushy?

“Rush has survived because he talks about everything he cares about. And his opinion doesn’t change due to public polling.”Rush survives because his Dittoheads care more about someone feeding their preconceived notions than facts.

Rush Limbaugh has no fact checker. There have been whole books filled showing his blatant and ridiculous errata. When caught out, he says he’s an entertainer. Those who believe he genuinely provides an unfiltered information source are more likely to be less well informed and even profoundly ignorant. There is a reason!

Ima, most of what Rush says about liberals is either an outright lie or simply wrong; there’s this thing called “objective reality” which can be checked, you know, and when you believe Rush over reality, this makes you less informed, not more. A very common tactic of his is to take a few snippets of a real situation, exaggerate them and leave out all the context which makes sense of them, and then use them to “prove” how foolish other people are. But lying by omission is still lying.

Jase99 is right: people love to listen to Rush because he tells them what they want to hear. He reinforces their sense of superiority over at least 50% of the population. He feeds preexisting beliefs and normalizes preexisting prejudice. He doesn’t challenge people to better themselves, he encourages them to feel better about themselves by belittling others. His audience LOVES what he has to say, because it is a cheap, easy way to convince themselves that they have the “right of things” without ever having to do any hard work of self-examination or fact-checking or learning.

    It’s sad.

Popularity does not equal accuracy. Not too difficult a concept, Ima. Just because his audience loves him doesn’t make him right or good. And your insults are pointless, as they are utterly incorrect. The people who truly have the “entitlement mentality” are the super-rich GOP members who aren’t willing to contribute to the nation who supported their success. And before you scream “class envy,” I am in the 1%. And a proud, patriotic, INFORMED liberal.
