    The Mayor’s son’s neighbor… Why, that’s like knowing the Pope’s sister’s hairdresser.

    Three degrees of separation?

Somehow, in Crustwood, even six wouldn’t be enough.

Query: What would you be driving if it takes a ¼ tank of gas to tour Crustwood?

Not only that, the cop knows the Police Chief. And Burl is perilously close to getting to know a municipal judge. And Joy will then be able to tell Verl that Burl stayed at a special sports resort that was totally casual and they provided everything. Even a neat orange jumpsuit—probably in the spirit of both UT’s or Auburn or Syracuse. And they ate all together in a big hall off of plastic trays with plastic utensils. And he met a really nice man named “Tiny” who calls the house all the time now asking for Burl.

Hey I know a woman whose brother-in-law went to school with a boy who grew up to marry the woman who owned the bakery where a woman who works at the country club once saw Joy buy cupcakes. But they all deny the connection.

Marg and x_Tech and dfowensby, I think I answered you too late yesterday.

Gotta sleep — as if I’m not already.

    Nighty night, Crustwoodians!

Fist thing I note is that Burl set a combination to his car lock that anyone could figure out in one to three tries, and then HE can’t even remember it. And then he posts it where anyone can see it for the ones not smart enough to try a simple code.

Second thing is this reminds me of a true story in when I was in high school.

My grandfather was a policeman in Holland, OH, which is just a small burg of Toledo. I would go with him to visit the chief of Police, who was a close friend of his. He had a daughter that was close to my age. I think at this time she was 17.

One Saturday we went over and she was bumming out. She just got a speeding ticket the night before (fist one).

She was stopped by a state trooper. As he was writing the ticket, she just mentioned in cheery tone, “Hey, my dad is the chief of police in Holland!”

He just said, “So?” and handed her a ticket.

    Good afternoon Crustwood!

My TiVo tracks many shows (I watch far too much TV, but there are many channels)- I watch no music, dancing or shows with teen interest. I Do watch many shows with cooking, decorating, crime solving and opera. TiVo tracks “season passes” and finds them even at different schedules.

I used to know a guy who was a part time security guard at an enormous IBM microchip plant in a smallish NE town. He was mainly a police officer for the town. He would pull over someone for speeding and they’d say ‘Uh, I work at IBM…’ as though that might get them some special dispensation. It didn’t.
