I bet we commentators knew it was a metal detector from the beginning panel. (Why does Earl have and when does he really use one anyway?)

Sometimes Earl is out of common sense.

It’s the new heavily invested green product three in one, a metal detector, weed whacker, and malt mixer, run by solar power. Earl is old but right up with the newest green movement of this age!

Earl’s just checking for a terrorist bomb…

Maybe it can help him find the weed whacker.

Lightenup is right… you’re not a real senior until you get a metal detector. Gives us all something to do besides feed pigeons.

Earl knew that. He was just using the metal detector to find metal objects that could hurt the weed whacker!
