No field trips in grade school. But we had a wonderful principal who would provide lessons in taxidermy at lunch. The boys would bring the animal or bird. He would give lessons on taxidermy & include moral lessons on taking a life unnecessarily, no matter whether that be human or bird..

they now cram 20+ schoolkids on the city bus with the rest of usno more school buses for these elementary kidssometimes during rush hours too
