Setting aside my personal religious beliefs for the moment I think this one was nicely and tastefully done. The problem I had with most of Johnny Hart’s Easter themed strips, and with the other religious themes he put into the strip over the years is that he tended to be very overt and even a bit ham-fisted in his presentations. Add to that the fact that at times he could be insulting to other religious groups – either incidentally or deliberately – and the result was that I personally felt considerable antipathy to the strip when he was doing it, regardless of whether he was doing something with a religious theme or not.

Guess the strip won’t be B.C. anymore…

Johnny Hart always did an Easter and Christmas strip. Thanks for carrying it on.

I read it, and I’m glad you enjoyed today’s message. I’ve always liked Hart’s show of faith and this honours his memory.

Comic strips are not meant to be read as though they take place in a particular point of time. Timeless comics comment on the present. Freedom of expression in art I believe.
