This sounds like a tall tale to me.

In all my grade school and junior high history lessons, I never heard “Celt” pronounced with a “k” sound — not till high school.Even now, though I always say “kelt”, the dictionary says “selt” is OK, so that may be what the teacher said.The embrrassing thing, though, is that, not being a sports fan, I’d automatically call the basketball team the “kelts.”

The team was founded in 1946, so he’s thinking about the ANCIENT Celtics, not the modern ones. And exaggerating the timeline a bit.

Celts not Celtics. Clean your ears boy

The Celts were a cultural/ethinc goup (pronounced with a K sound) and the Celtics are a basketball team (pronounced with an S sound. Subtle difference.

Just visualize the Celts wearing kilts to keep the pronunciation straight.

It wasn’t space aliens. If you have enough slaves and whips you can build anything.

Good idea, bad execution. The guys pictured, Bird, McHale, Parish, they didn’t play 80 years ago! I remember watching them play and I’m not that old!! ;-)
