Multinational (or ‘global’) corporations’ reason for being is not to ‘create jobs’ as their servants the R’s try to keep reminding us; it is to return a profit to their stockholders (in whatever sector, including finance, AKA ‘manipulating symbols’), and it had better be more than last quarters’ profit, or heads will roll.Thus if there are labor costs, those must be minimized, usually meaning offshore or ‘third-world’ labor, until Americans can be convinced to work for a dollar-a-day like those in other countries.If automation is involved, the labor cost becomes a smaller part of the equation, and the clever manager can skim off a larger part of the returns, with a healthy bonus.We must all own lucrative robot slaves immediately, to support us!

Romney defends his Swiss bank account and Cayman Islands account by claiming those deposits were made by a “blind trust” that acted without his direct knowledge. That explanation is worthy of a cartoon treatment just by itself- pity the poor man whose money has a disability!

I like the superpak fun comics, too – dripping with satire. BTW, news.yahoo.com/comics has not shown this week’s “Tom the Dancing Bug.” It just keeps running the previous week’s strip.
