I read the news these days. What’s on TV is usually sensationalized and the important parts are cut out, so it’s not worth it to me.I assume Reagan was president.

Strip ran from 1979 to 2008. Lizzie started as a toddler and ended just married. The president was probably Reagan or Clinton, and the terrorist Iranian.Watch once a decade comment seems about right.The news has on times been one sided, an d exaggarated.

Some things never change. This could’ve be written yesterday.

I hate the news. Today my 2nd Grader, in earshot of normally-safe NPR, asks me, “Dad, what’s a slut?”

1983-03-05 was the original pub date, so it was Reagan and Trudeau. The rioting was all over the place, as were refugee camps. We were just starting up from the Carter Stagflation, so even here, there were issues. So, don’t look for any improvements in the present mess until 2014 at the earliest.

These are new strips, drawn in the older style with the kids younger again.

If only…. I have a recording by Simon & Garfunkle from 1968 which consists of the news and music playing in the background — and it sounds like it could easily be the news of today. When will we ever learn??
