As one w/ no ‘dog in the fight’, I’d say,“LSU just beat ’bama, OSU got screwed!” LSU/OSU would have given a great cross-conference match-up for the SEC to prove it’s as good, as their ranking .The ’bowl committee failed college football big-time!
There are what, 11 conferences?.Fine, the champions of those 11 automatically make the playoffs. The 10 other teams with the best records play one-game play-ins. We then proceed to a 16 game tournament. This can be done over 5 weekends..The national championship game gets rotated between the Rose, Orange, and Sugar Bowls, the year after it hosts the championship, the bowl in question drops down to one of the quarterfinals, then moves up to one of the semifinals the next year. The Fiesta Bowl is always the other semifinal. Everyone else gets quarterfinals or early-round games, and no, I don’t feel tremendously unhappy that the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl will always get shafted..Voila. Instant playoff system, just add the will to scrap the current “system” (and I use the word in the loosest possible sense).

The BCS system is BS. They need a playoff system like the NFL.
