You don’t really start to enjoy veggies until you have a garden. And discover (as a child) how many of them can be eaten raw and not boiled to tasteless mush..Peas (what most call English), broadbeans, runners, blue river, scarlet runners, carrots, cukes, radishes, and anything else that can be picked and eaten while you’re filling the pail for dinner.
I wrote an innocent little rhyming couplet that was perhaps the second post on this forum….
but it looks like someone had it removed!
Never occurred to me, but maybe if you’re 12 you’d see a bit of naughtiness in it, though it would be way below the everyday standards of this site.
Anyway, I love vegetables, raw, steamed, stir-fried, roasted…. fresh, frozen, anything but canned, though every few years I have to have a can of creamed corn —a childhood treat.
I even love those silly frozen mixtures of carrots, corn, peas, and lima and green beans, and I’m sad cos some brands now leave out the limas.
So if you’re tempted to throw your lima beans in the nearest potted plant or down the disposal… just e-mail them to me.

REmember being young enough to taste the bitterness in some kinds of strange flat beans…?

When I was a kid I kept pouring my lima beans into a bushy plant my mother had. I didn’t get caught till the plant died. Just proves they are lethal.

My kids love most veggies including peas and limas, while I can’t stand them. I choke them down though to provide a good example.

@SusanSunshineSorry we missed out on your rhymn. If it had to do with beans, I’;m sure it would have been quite musical. And punny.
