My dog used to keep doing that as a puppy, so one day I did that on purpose, giving him plenty of time to get out. Once I closed it, I left him in there for about a minute, then lifted up part of the chair so he could crawl out. He hasn’t been under there since.

I have done that to my cats. It doesn’t seem to worry them until they wake up. Then they pitch a bit of a fit.
