Poor Bucky. No one even cares what he has to say. I have to admit, I’d be listening to Rob and Satchel on this one.

But look at Bucky’s adorable paws gesturing in the third panel. I love the way Rob’s eye is rolling in it as well.

And I never knew Goya was so dark.

Ha! Rob caught Bucky off guard! Great exchanges of conversation…Man, I think this family is more sophisticated than mine is….

Varnes — I think a dog who reads art books and, without any human guidance, is inspired to make himself a costume based on a Goya painting, is more sophisticated than ME.

This is educational! I looked up the Goya painting – I agree with Suzanne .. never knew he had such dark subjects for paintings.

I’ll bet Darby threw Natalie Portman and Goya together deliberately; there was a very disturbing movie from 2006 called, “Goya’s Ghosts.” It was about a beautiful young woman who was taken prisoner by the Inquisition, and the horrors that befell her, and Goya’s involvement in this story. It’s no wonder Goya’s paintings were dark – so were the times.

Goya had some sort of illness; I’m not sure but I think he died insane. This is reflected in his body of work. I saw copies of most of his paintings hung up in chronological order and you can see the darkness growing.

Can’t wait to learn what Bucky’s “huge life decision” is! No doubt, this will be good!Suzanne, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who is putty in Bucky’s paws. : ) My first cat was a Siamese, had him from 6th grade till I was a senior in high school. Bucky’s paws always melt my heart, no matter what crazy thing he’s doing, and get me missing my cat again.

Rob’s whole life is a Goya painting. Or maybe a Picasso, nothing’s right.

There’s some thought (from the 80’s, if I recall correctly) that Goya may have been dealing with lead poisoning and that caused his downward spirals. He regularly tasted his paint to make sure it was the right color/consistency — it was lead-based paint. As the lead built up in his system, it would cause sever depression, hallucinations, etc. Then he’d go to an asylum, detox, then get out and paint “nice” stuff. Once it built up again, he’d spiral down again. That’s the theory, anyway.

I’m going to the library to see if I can get a book of his works. See how the comics inspire us.

I think these guys have a world of their own. Aaahh… This just made my day.

I live with a Norwich Terrier and a Siamese cat…this strip has their personalities down pat. Love it!! The cat is crazy and the dog doesn’t know what is going on most of the time. By the way Goya suffered from deafness and temporary blindness in his later life due to ill health…so the where’s waldo doll in the mouth is a not too subtle homage.
