I’ve been through jury selection twice, got picked once. It was a limo driver who got picked up for soliciting a prostitute (an undercover policewoman). It was fun. The guy clearly was trying to hire her, but we deadlocked on whether a “deal” had actually been made, so a mistrial was declared.
The other time I was went through the selection process it was for an asbestos-litigation trial, and those can last for AGES, so I did what I could to get myself kicked off (I work for lawyers, so naturally they encourage us to serve on juries and I would have gotten paid for as long as the trial lasted, but I simply didn’t want THAT case). So I told the lawyers that, from my observation, if a case like that actually goes to trial rather than settling out, it’s usually because ONE of the parties is being unreasonable, and I would be trying to figure out which side that was…
Eno’s a full time jurist. You’d think the courts would blacklist this numbskull. Man, I love this strip. Too close to home sometimes, I guess that makes it more enjoyable.
