Unfortunately, I feel the same way. I used to listen,reverentially, to NPR. Ever button on my car radio was pretuned to some NPR station in the area. Then about three years ago, I suddenly grew tired of and numbed to the fact that, with a few exceptions, all the “’news” was who’s killing who and how they were doing it. Haven’t listened to the radio since and I don’t feel the least deprived! The human race can/will never learn!
All the ugly rhetoric before the 2008 election caused my wife to finally have the cable TV service removed. We have not missed it in the least these past three years. The news and “entertainment” programming has steadily gone downhill from what I read and see in public places. I don’t see us going back anytime soon.

Whatever sells toothpaste…That’s why I prefer truly ‘listener-sponsored’ Pacifica stations. Sure they have a slant; think the others don’t?
