Waffles for dinner is an old tradition. Ever heard of waffles and fried chicken? There are many recipes using waffles as a base for a savory meal: creamed chicken on waffles, chili on waffles, etc. As I said, dinner recipes for waffles go way back.

This must be a fairly recent rerun — I haven’t been on GoComics that many years, and I can remember commenting on it before. The comment being, waffles are best eaten for supper, when you have lots of time to cook and enjoy them, unlike breakfast, which is usually rushed. (I also love bacon and eggs for supper, for the same reason!)
