I got the same idea from reading the strip. Yes, it is a family strip but this IS Arlo & Janis, expect subtle clues!

Oh good lord, no. She’s pregnant. Now Gene will never finish his degree.

I have to build on @Ulan’s post to @bookgirl2; ML has been very adamant about Gene finishing his education, ever since her return to the strip in 2008. Her insistence is the main reason Gene has gotten this far; she won’t be with him if he doesn’t get his degree. As for a pregnancy, I advise @bookgirl2 to read the strips from the summer 1997 (or is it 1998?) when Gene re-connects with the then-pregnant ML. And the summer 2009 strips where Janis & Gus talk about the young couple.

I must admit that I’m a little disappointed by their plans. I’d been hoping that Gene would get so interested in the restaurant that he’d either change his major to Restaurant Management or leave college and go to Culinary School. (Hey, there’s a lot of great chefs out there who started out with a summer job in a kitchen and learned to love cooking.)

Ulan – Gene’s expressed his commitment many times. It’sMaryLou that’s holding back.

This is a fun strip to follow, but HELLO! It’s a comic strip, not real life. ;)

Mary Lou did use the future tense “we are going to plant….” I think we’re safe in believing that she won’t be making the same mistake twice, and that Gene will not become a father without intent.

psychlady, I think he knows EXACTLY what he is getting “into” And Ulan, over the years I have read this strip I have found it is one of the most erotic mainstream comics. We know Janis wears “that” kind of underwear, they enjoy using handcuffs, are fashonably late after Arlo sees janice in her lingerie. This is a couple that are in love, and very active. I think Gene and AMry Lou are going to be much the same.
