Darkeforce, its not as though they just showed up. They’ve been pushing paranoia all along. Its not going to go away. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

And there’s a strong push to re-write history with McCarthy as he stalwart patriot who was done in by the lying smearing communists that really were in the state dept… The victors write the history books, but people forget there can be different victors every generation or so.

Simon, I’d like to agree with you but I don’t see Newt giving up yet. The birthers didn’t disappear. They are still voters but don’t have a cause to rally around. The first R who can offer a catchy new thing to be angry/frightened over can probably make a strong showing in the primary run. I susepct Newt is fishing for something shiny to dangle in front of folks.

Interesting opportunity. Obama could play FDR. Except FDR isn’t allowed golf or hoops. Maybe, Obama could play Alger Hiss. No, Obama talks too much. The Soviets could never trust Obama. Maybe, Obama could play Joe Stalin. No, Obama couldn’t grow a decent mustache in a hundred years. This is it. Obama could play Eleanor Roosevelt. Obama is excellent at sticking his nose in other peoples business. Michelle could understudy.

Thank you for the new conspiracy rumor. There is no big movement to recast McCarthy. I’ve been teaching history for over 16 years and in several different states. He’s still viewed as a scumbag.

The problem with loyalty oaths is that when you have what appears to be a congenital liar like Newt, why should you believe he would keep an oath? How many marriage oaths has he broken?

He didn’t call anyone a bigot. If that’s what you derived from this comic, then perhaps you see what’s wrong with what Newt said.

Remove the halo from Eisenhower. He refused to defend General George Marshall in public from the scurrilous attacks made by McCarthy.

McCarthy was reborn with “War on Terror”, “Patriot Act”, and “Military Commissions Act”- period.

McCarthy didn’t start the “witch hunts.” The House of unAmerican Activities did, and they nabbed a few traitors like Alger Hiss. In 1995 McCarthy was vindicated when Soviet dox were declassified.

That is a haunting drawing of McCarthy in the toon.I remember seeing him on TV when I was a little kid. Those were some of the days Americans shouldn’t be proud of, shouldn’t rewrite out of history, and shouldn’t happen again.

Look,There are a bunch of crazies out there but there is NO attempt, in education, to make McCarthy a hero.

If Darkeforce doesn’t like revisiting history, I guess he must be APPALLED at the Politico piece calling Dubya a moderate conservative that the Tea Party is distancing itself from.
