Noooo, Joan is saying Val has every right to be cranky.

I would listen to the news (both Radio & TV) if they didn’t have “team coverage” about some celebrity (like Britiney Spears) having an issue every other week, and let Obama do his job.

That’s exactly right, ejcapulet. But if she keeps reacting like that (you may catch a fly opening your mouth so wide, Val), she may be considered cranky soon enough.

Awww…I didn’t realize Joan was a widow.

Phil is just not in the story line this week. I’m sure he’ll be back. He adores her - for exactly who she is. I should have such a wonderful boyfriend.

Listening to the news every day is enough to make a nervous wreck out of anyone. But you have to stay informed about what’s going on.

fbjsr, are you sure Ike Schaef is into “dating game”?
I never was, and I successfully got married 3 years ago (then aged 42).

I’ve been married longer and I am older. Marriage has its up and downs. I still try to put a few surprises in; although it gets hard my husband catches on, but he is no mind reader.

I did not start SS until a few months ago. And realized Joan is raising her daughters by herself even with her mother living with them. Never new her status. SS sometimes reminds of Baby Blues and Zits. Although parents in both strips are married.

Joan, you’re darned if you say it and darned if you don’t say it.

Isn’t Val the widow and Joan married to Wally?

When Val first began dating Phil, Holly was not happy. At that time, they discussed Holly’s memories of her dad & that she missed him. Joan’s husband left her when Max was a baby. She moved in with Val and their mother but Wally, who lived next door, soon began courting her, they married and had baby girl. The children in this strip do not age in real time. Max has been in the terrible twos far too long.
