Odie got a sound remedy..

Who says Odie is an idiot?

Not only Garfield’s foot is in pain, but now he’s about to drop a “load” of his own (if you know what I mean)!

Payback is right. Because Garfield was disappointed that Jon was bringing Odie back after his walk. I knew that nasty look on Odie’s face meant something nasty was in store for Garfield.

Not this time.

Basically, I think the name “Odie” derives from French “idio” (note, actual spelling is as in Enlish, “idiot”, but the “t” is silent) spelled sideways.

Love the grimace in the last panel … Odie may not be the shapest tool in the shed, but he’s also not the dullest.

Actually, Odie is a nickname for Otis.

Or could it be short for OD as in overdose? maybe that’s why he’s a little slow <:-) Also, Otis would have its ups and downs!

I always thought that Odie stood for Odious.

Odie is surely smart-aleck!

too funny. i love odie. he is so cute. he is not the sharpest tool sometimes but he can hold his own.

Every now and then Odie surprises you. He takes a lot of abuse from Garfield who is always kicking him. Good to see him get his own back now and then.

Sorry to kill the mood: I would have thought the rock would add to the momentum from Garfield’s kick, sending Odie down to the ground.

I have a toy stuffed Odie I’ve had for about 20 years. He sits on my headboard in our bedroom. (My husband is so tolerant of my stuffed animals!)

Jim Davis took his characters’ names from people he actually knew. He mentioned Odie was a village idiot somewhere …
