If they were, they would automatically attack all the lawyers!

(Sorry, I know I shouldn’t attack a whole class of people because there are a few unscrupulous ones, but I couldn’t resist the cheap shot!)

I always worry about being judged by 12 people who are too stupid to get out of jury duty.

This trial has gone to the dogs.

The defendant is done for if he’s a cat lover.

Here Here Jaws2z, I once worked as a corections officer for a smaller town Jail. When they forced me into Jury duty a few years after haveing moved on from that job, I was asked if I knew the defendant dureing the questioning part of selecting Jurors. They had already aproved 6 or so folks and I stated I’m not entirlly certain but I think he was in Jail for B&E when I was working there. Talk about some upset folks. I was out as were the other folks that now had heard my responce. I’ve never been aproached for jury duty since.

If you’re to stupid to stay out of the defendants chair, then I’d say they were a jury of your peers.

Juries are composed fo senior citizens and the unemployed. Who else would be bred to death for what the state pays them?

Wouldn’t work—-wagging tails and slobbering would be a dead giveaway as to who’s case is prevailing.

I dunno, the way dogs forgive and forget, I think too many people would walk away free! Then again, if you had cats instead no one would walk away at all!

jury duty is one of the USA’s “freedoms”. We do juty duty to serve and protect. Justice only seems blind, the jury are her eyes.

@elbeck, that’s my experience too. A jury of dogs might be nice for one side, but surely the other attorney would object.

It is common to hear folks profess their dislike for jury duty. And yet reality style TV shows are very popular. What could be more real than watching a trial from the juror’s box? Plus you are on the panel of guest judges involved in deciding the verdict. It just seems inconsistent.

A jury trial is seldom wrapped up within an hour.

You see all the boring parts – they aren’t edited out.

When I served, there were no hot chicks on the panel or in the witness box.

Thanks for clearing that up Sternvogel. People don’t really want reality. They’re after mind numbing entertainment. It’s like crack TV.

I was excused from a drug selling case when I revealed I had retired from the pharmaceutical industry and had strong views on the kind of case that was being tried.

A little off-topic question. If someone who has dual-citizenship with another country (I don’t, as I actually renounced Canadian citizenship–but I did have dual-citizenship for about three years), would that person be able to get out of it by showing the passport pertaining to the non-US country?

They’d be better jurors than many we’ve seen in Texas - witness the Candace Montgomery trial, the Cullen Davis trials, and the Walker Railey trial.
