From the past lives of Homer files, the return of Honor... This is the story of the O'Brien family, Connor, his wife, Mary and their daughter, Honor, who was born on the ship bringing them to America. We join them 4 years after their arrival in New York. Although their dreams of riches in America were rapidly fading, their memories of the hopelessness they left back in Ireland were not. For what little they had, they were grateful. America was, indeed, the land of opportunity at the time...but only if you were male and of the right heritage. Along with conspicuous wealth was widespread poverty. In this society divided by class, women had virtually no rights and racism went beyond skin color, as the Irish were considered fit for little more than manual labor. This is Honor's world as she and her family enter the last decade of the 19th century... Mary: Wanna play house, Honor? Honor: Sure, Edwina! Mary: Ok...I'll be the one with a life and you be the one with lowered expectations. Honor: Why do I always have to be the mommy?! Mary: Oh, stop whining and get me something to eat, woman...
