Former Vice President Dick Cheney: Oo kagh gooshish koo ghee - I uschkoo gee gick schay gee! Punk: I had the same thought on the top of my tongue. Translation: "You can't do this to me - I used to be Dick Cheney!"
I cannot help but chuckle at this. After 8 years of eschewing media and hiding in undisclosed locations, Cheney won’t shut up. Now his daughter is all over the media as some kind of expert. Sheesh. He’s working behind the scenes to get the next war started.
Please!! Mr. “I don’t have to tell the American people anything while I’m screwing them over, and if you criticize me you’re a traitor” Cheney ought to be shown a little “rendition” of his very own…
“Snort water”?
Scott, you really need to read 1 Corinthians 13 in its entirety. The only possible cure for that bile which spills over in your comments is to fill your heart with love! A tin man can only clank!!
What’s with all the focus on the old news story of Cheney. I think it’s time for Mr. Oliphant to tackle the day to day goings on in Washington. There’s much fun to be had there. Just yesterday - The Jobs Summit, more money for war, etc.
Gore expounds on one thing, and that thing doesn’t undermine EVERYTHING that Bush did. However Cheney is just plain disrespectful of EVERYTHING that Obama does. So your analogy is tripe.
av8tor – Never have I sucked at the public trough. Unless driving on roads, using airports, watching sports in taxpayer funded stadiums and having the gov’t underwrite my student loans (long-since paid off) is sucking at said trough.
Bush 41: “While we hoped that popular revolt or coup would topple Saddam, neither the U.S. nor the countries of the region wished to see the breakup of the Iraqi state. We were concerned about the long-term balance of power at the head of the Gulf. Trying to eliminate Saddam, extending the ground war into an occupation of Iraq, would have violated our guideline about not changing objectives in midstream, engaging in “mission creep,” and would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. Apprehending him was probably impossible. … We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq. The coalition would instantly have collapsed, the Arabs deserting it in anger and other allies pulling out as well. Under those circumstances, furthermore, we had been self-consciously trying to set a pattern for handling aggression in the post-cold war world. Going in and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the U.N.’s mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the U.S. could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land. It would have been a dramatically different–and perhaps barren–outcome.”
Like Joe Biden said on the Daily Show - “Funny how the guys that got us into this (mess) are now trying to tell us how to get out of it!” He was speaking to the opposing party in general, but if the show fits, Mr. 6 deferments- I have better things to do- wear it nailed to your tongue right on top of the book !
CWR – he is however a MUCH louder banger of the war drum than Clinton ever was. Hence the issue is hypocrisy. “Oh I’m much to busy to fight…. but I’ll send as many others in my place as I can.”
@ Church - true, he’s innocent until proven guilty. Everyone is. Yet I think he’s been a fair bit more disrespectful (politically) towards Obama than Gore was to Bush. Just imo.
As for what Bush and Cheney had to do with 9/11, there are some things we will never know. Yet as far as I’m concerned, there’s definitely reason for them to shoulder some of the blame for letting it happen.
Why? Because Clinton left a unit working on Bin Laden, Bush ignored it (until 9/11). When there was a presidential briefing about the threat Bin Laden posed, he didn’t do anything either - as far as one can tell. Cheney, as VP, should have contributed with advice and experience, so he doesn’t get a free pass either..
We may never know for 101% sure just how the WTC fell, or the Pentagon was hit, but 9/11 happened on Bush’s watch. And he can not claim he never could have known, or that it was only other people’s fault. After getting the briefing folder, he was informed there was a thread. From that point on, anything that happened since was partly his responsibility, since he was at the helm. It was, to use the expression, on his watch. Here, btw, is the declassified text: http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/terrorism/80601pdb.html . I’m not going as far as saying Bush is the one responsible for 9/11, I don’t have anything proving that - simply that he shouldn’t be off the hook either.
As for Cheney mouthing off on all channels, hah. His die-hard fans will still cheer him, the rest will find him as repulsive as always.

Bush/Cheney: “Osama Bin Ladin’s not the threat, Saddam Hussein’s the threat.”
