@tbeardogg “c++ is basic”. Groaner of a pun there. And C++ was created at Bell Labs, not by Microsoft.

C is descended from B, which is descended from BCPL. It was debated whether the next member of the family should be P or D.
Until (among others) C++ came along, which in C means “add one to C”.
