Looking to uncle Max in the last panel I think he already regrets his visit. Maybe he thinks: never again in thousand million billion years !!

You must be right because after Max’s one visit he is never seen again.

I can understand Max being surprised but, Mom and Dad should have known.

That should be a fart thing to make Max humiliating after he sits on the chair. Calvin’s parents look so embarrassed! LOLs! X-D

The character, Max, was played by Lexington Matthews, a comicstrip character actor. He has appeared in numerous strips in minor roles. Aside from his brief appearance in Calvin and Hobbes, he is best known for his portrayal as Odie’s owner, Lyman.

He trained at the prestigious Eyeceum in London, and currently is an artist-in-residence at the Omaha Insitute of Sequential Arts.

How short the memory…I bet Max was live wire too.

Northwoodser: I guess I am already 6 feet under! Just never have cared for “bathroom” humor of any kind. Not a prude, just one of those things I find overwhelming gross and childish. Little children laugh at such things because they don’t know any better and haven’t learned public manners. Yes, I know. The bunch of you will jump all over me for being “snootie”, or maybe it’s “snotty”! ??? But, I don’t really care! So there!

BW always refused to say. That’s one of the may reasons he never allowed C&H to be commercialized - a stuffed Hobbes doll might just confirm his status.
