This is the age where you find out how dumb adults really are. But then you also find out that they get impossibly smarter in about ten years or so.

My famous last words were “I don’t care what happened when you tried it. Let me find out for myself.”

CogentModality - It’s the miraculous grace of God that you even survived your childhood then!! There’s only two ways to learn stuff: 1) Learn wisdom from those that have gone before you OR 2) learn by slogging through it yourself. No one who learns everything by his own mistakes lives long enough to tell about it.

Lonewolf - LOL!! There are lot’s of “last words” like that from kids but they all indicate the same condition: “I insist on learning this the hard way!!” You just hope that there are enough pieces left when it’s over for them to glue the shards of their life back together.

jrbj - YOUBETTCHA!! Although I find that if you have a really close, loving relationship with your children and have been consistent with loving discipline, this phenomenon is greatly lessened.

I believe it was Mark Twain who said that children should be put in a barrel and fed through a knothole. When they get to be teenagers, plug up the knothole.

    Best advice: Get a dog.

A newspaper reporter’s will? Now what would that have in it for any survivors?

A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain.

There mere fact that I was speaking to the person indicates that it wasn’t a fatal activity.

I didn’t say my common sense was deficient. Just the credibility of the person was suspect. There’s more than one way to display the felines musculature.

“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could barely stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.” –Mark Twain

I can. The first light I saw of really crucial importance was not to go on drugs.

That includes tobacco, which eventually killed my mother.
