Well, the details don’t matter; you only need to know that he tried to do one thing, then blamed the calculator for his failure, when it was really his fault for hitting the wrong buttons. I guess that “geek-out hilarious” means that you get this, but it’s even funnier for you since you DON’T know what they’re talking about?
(Also you don’t really need calculus for the hyperbolic cosine, although most high schools in the U.S. don’t mention it until then.
