They keep us in our comfort zones... that's why reunions are so perilous - we keep trying to put old friends back in the old boxes... and it doesn't take much to throw us - just some small change in status or attitude or appearance... you seem unsettled by all this, Mike... I guess the real-life inspiration for Zonker lost weight? I recall he was a bit overweight the last time he appeared in the strip.
