Now, we all know that I’m famous for missing the point a lot…but, to me, I’m seeing 2 interpretations:1. That “Death” will be beckoning the old man to “enter” in a moment…or2. The memories of a lifetime all gone by are right behind that door.ora combination of both, perhaps.Like I said, I’m probably not even on the right track, but that’s how I see it. I don’t see the figure in the doorway as being of this world, but more as a symbol of what the old man left behind or of what is awaiting him.
In any event, there’s definitely gloom and doom in the doorway and beyond. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it…
@happy We too use cast iron. It is easy to wash if you keep the pans seasoned and get them really hot to begin with and reduce the heat once you have put whatever you want to cook into the pan. Cast iron is the perfect non-stick cookware.
I’m listening to some Stevie Nicks right now from the Bella Donna album. I just finished recording the last of 4 Heart tapes today. Hard to believe I’ve got my favorite hits and album cuts spanning 37 years on 6 hours of tape.
It came out a couple years before I graduated, happy. But then I think the album was released about a year earlier in Canada than it was in the States.
I can’t believe it’s been 37 years either. Dreamboat Annie sounds about as fresh and vibrant as it did back then.
For some reason, I’m now thinking of the Bob Seger song, Like A Rock. Just replace 20 years with 37.
By the way, Stevie Nicks also has a relatively new album out. I recently put it on my Amazon “wish list” I hear that it’s also pretty darn good from the reviews I’ve read.
Speaking of Bob Seager, let’s not forget “Fortunate Son”. And I have Dreamboat Annie on a cassette! (Yeah, I’m old!) My FAVORITE HEART SONG IS "DOG AND BUTTERFLY! I SO LOVE THAT SONG!
I initially went the “Best of” route but found that some of my favorite songs were being replaced by crap I could care less about. The same is true with Springsteen. I never did buy Nebraska, but there was a song or two from that album on the CD I bought. There was no Sherry Darling,Cadillac Ranch, or The River. I ended up buying The River and his earlier albums and tossed the greatest hits CD.
Well I don’t have it on any of my vinyl and not on any of the tapes I have either. Unless it’s a bonus track on a CD I haven’t got yet, I’m not familiar with his version at all.
Wow, it’s really tough trying to rank them, Fellow Baby, but I’ll be as objective as I can with all the albums I’ve got.
1) Barracuda – Little Queen2) Dreamboat Annie (Reprise) – Dreamboat Annie3) Magic Man – Dreamboat Annie4) Will You Be There (In the Morning) – Desire Walks On5) These Dreams – Heart Album6) Without You – Magazine7) White Lightning & Wine – Dreamboat Annie8) Never – Heart Album9) Kick It Out – Little Queen10) I’ll Be Your Song – Dreamboat Annie11) Mistral Wind – Dog & Butterfly12) I’ve Got the Music In Me (Live) – Magazine13) Say Hello – Little Queen14) Straight On – Dog & Butterfly15) Stairway To Heaven (Live) – Little Queen Bonus Track16) I Want You So Bad – Bad Animals17) Under the Sky – Brigade18) Fallen From Grace – Brigade19) Hey You – Red Velvet Car20) Dog & Butterfly – Dog & Butterfly
Is that because of stress? Or do you know? I find I need more than 6 hours sleep to really feel rested, but I generally get by with 6 hours or so. Just not as well.
Ideally, I’d like to turn off the computer about 9:00 p.m., but I seldom do because I like to see people here. But it may come to that if I ever get my act together.
Well, I guess I’ll say good night Grog. You likely aren’t tired, but I do have to get up early tomorrow for church. I feel my cold coming back too. More in my throat. like laryngitis.
I hate commuting. Even public transit is frustrating. Stop and go, standing most of the trip, transferring two or three times. Ugh. Been doing it all my life and i still hate it. Driving would be worse though for me. In the city anyways. I prefer to drive in the country.
Fellow Baby, there are too many good songs and I do favor the first 4 albums. However there is a balance between my rockers and my ballads To put things in perspective, Dog & Butterfly was number 20 out of 91 possible selections. All I Want To Do which is in your top 5, is in my top 25.
Also, Fellow Baby my selections will never be impacted by their chart success. If they were, I never would have been a Queen fan. Interesting how that when they did achieve chart success, I stopped buying their albums. I liked them better when they were billed as a fill-in for the slow down in Zep releases.

Fellow Baby, my second favorite Heart song would be “All I Wanna Do ….” and “Barracuda” would be third I think. Heck, everything they do is GREAT!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 11 years ago
Fellow Baby, on second thought, “Dreamboat Annie” would be Second, then "ALL I WANNA DO ,,,, " AND THEN Barracuda!

I can’t imagine that or any other song by CCR (Except for Proud Mary ) being sung by anyone else and be hit for them.

Monday I’ll be late likely again. I have a friend in the hospital and I should get in to see her again after classes.
