You have to share with everyone…. so do the other programming geniuses, or I will cry. I have been robbed of my ability to yell. It is very sad….  nonbreaking spaces work…. \ backslash doesn’t work…. single or double asterisk * makes bold underline _ makes italics  3 * or 3_ makes a line This is all I have learned from the Computer Geeks that we shall all be awed by in the weeks to come.

Okay all. I will not be able to see your comments as of 9 hours ago. GC is still not working right. I’m on my lap top I’m not sure if GC technical team is having problems. I’m not sure if any of you will see this comment but I’ve had problems.

OK, so, a lot of things are different in the new GoComics system, and some of them aren’t working yet. In the meantime, here are some things I’ve learned by messing around. If anyone has found easier ways to do these things, or ways to do other things, please let us know.

Commas: The, commas, started, working, yesterday, and, the, commas, that, had, disappeared, from, older, postings, have, now, returned.

Bold Font: Type a single asterisk before and after the word or group of words: Bold example

Italic Font: Type a single underscore before and after the word or group of words: Italic example

Bold Italic Font: Type an underscore followed by an asterisk before the word or group of words, and then type an asterisk followed by an underscore after the word or group of words: Bold Italic example

Insert a Blank Line: This is a tough one. At the end of a line of text, press “Enter” twice. Then type in the following 6 characters with no spaces between them: & n b s p ; (including the semicolon). Then press “Enter” twice more.

Getting Into the Site: Sometimes the site won’t open, and I get the following error message: “We’re sorry, but something went wrong.” If this happens, I can get into the site by typing the following address into my browser: www.gocomics.com/explore/comics

Posting a Comment: Sometimes a comment won’t post in Internet Explorer when I click on “Submit,” and the text just stays in the “Comment” box. This seems random, and sometimes I’ve been able to fix it by deleting my browsing history including cookies, but sometimes this hasn’t worked. When this happens, generally I switch to the Mozilla Firefox or Opera web browser, and the posting works fine.

Leaving the Site: I’ve found that if I log out of GoComics before I leave the site, I will be able to get into the site the next time. If I don’t log out before I leave, I may not be able to get in the next time, unless I manually type in the address that I mentioned above under “Getting Into the Site.” (A cookie problem?)

Viewing Old Comic Strips: When you click on the calendar and then the “down” arrow next to 2011, only 10 previous years appear in the drop-down list. But if you click on 2001 and then click on the “down” arrow again, the list will go back another 10 years to 1991. With Peanuts, for example, you can continue this process all the way back to 1950.

Unknown: Has anyone found a way to post Web links, insert pictures, indent, or create a larger font / red font?

Creating an Avatar: Marg, could you please tell us how to do this? :>)
