One thing I learned in my recent study of personality type theory is why some people find it naturally easier to make outlines than others. For me it’s a developed skill, but not rooted in the strongest natural mental ability I have.

The mental ability that enables us to make outlines, checklists, footnotes, classifications, etc. is highly valued in our society, and so most of us have developed some skill with it. “Highly useful” it is, but largely because there’s a demand for it. The ability to make proper value judgments is just as useful, but it’s by far the least highly regarded of our natural cognitive processes in American society.

Just some food for thought to go with breakfast… :)

Good morning, tribe! Kab - Grog has some excellent advice. Your professor may or may not require you to turn in an outline for your essay, but he or she will expect your essay to follow the format Grog mentioned. Most (if not all) English teachers expect their students to use an outline when writing an essay. My CPA got our tax returns done. She said we get a refund from Fed, but have to pay into KS. However, we have to pay a little less than our Fed refund, so sounds like we did okay on guessing our withholding for this year.

Oooops! - Sounds like we have a lot in common. I love to set up new organizational systems, just hate doing the routine filing to keep it up. I prefer to do mental checklists, but I’ve learned that I need a written checklist to refer to as my memory is getting worse. Thank God for computers, as that makes writing checklists a whole lot easier for me. 3x5 cards will feed into my printer, so I even print out my shopping lists.

I’m glad you found the suggestion useful, ♥Kab♥. As Rmom said, many English teachers will require you to use an outline. Some may actually require you to submit the outline with the essay. I found it useful in my University years preparing reports for various subjects. They are especially useful in putting together works of pure fiction.

When I was young, I would buy any book about Star Trek. One, in particular, dealt with writing for television, and particularly, Star Trek. They would not commission the writing of a script without first seeing the story outlline. Very interesting stuff if you are looking to get into writing for television.

    Hello, Carhauler & bmonk

Joe had a way of getting under the skin of many in the GoComics community. For the most part, his comments didn’t bother me, except for his tendancy toward name-calling. Most were long-winded and I have a tendancy toward skipping past the long-winded. Joe did have a way with being at the center of controversy though. I think he went overboard with the name-calling and he was finally bounced after a heap of tollerance.

I, for one, am glad he’s gone. There’s much less controvery to endure as a result.

Speaking of Lamb, here’s a Honey-Mustard Glazed Lamb that’s really good. With or without Mint Jelly.

Ingredients: .2 Tbl. chopped onion .2 Tbl. parsley .2 tsp. sage .2 tsp. rosemary .2 Tbl. fresh thyme .1 tsp. grated lemon peel .1 large clove garlic (minced) .1/2 tsp. salt .1/2 cup honey .2 Tbl. lemon juice .3-4 lb. lean boneless leg of lamb, well trimmed, or lamb stew meat salt and pepper

    Directions:

Combine onion, parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, lemon peel, garlic, and salt; mix well. Quit singing “Scarborough Fair.” In a separate bowl, combine honey and lemon juice. Place boneless leg of lamb on a flat surface, meat side up, and season with salt and pepper. Brush lamb with honey mixture; sprinkle with herb mixture. Roll and tie. Rub roast with honey mixture. Bake on a roasting rack in oiled roasting pan in a 350° F oven, allowing 20-25 minutes per pound for medium rare, or 145° internal temp. Brush with honey mix every 20 minutes. When all of honey mix is used, brush with drippings.

pseudo I was not brought up on pizza. My Mom was a very picky eater and our menu reflected her tastes. When we went out for dinner as a family it was always to places where she could eat the food. My Dad actually got my Mom to try a smoked meat sandwich once and she liked it. But other than that, she did not eat foods she was not brought up on. If she didn’t like it, she didn’t have to eat it. Unfortunately that was not the case for me until I grew up.

The only place we could really go to for dinner at night, was a place called St. Hubert, they did BBQ chicken and they do it very well. I actually miss it.

But I was really only introduced to some of my favorites when I started working for a living. Pizza joints were a dime a dozen and the pizza chains were garbage. I think the Mom & Pop joints in Montreal could put many of their American counterparts to shame. ButI could take or leave pizza, and when I tried the pizza here, I’d rather leave it. I really grew to like pigs knuckles & saurkraut. Also Montreal has some fantastic Asian restaurants like The Baggette d’Ivoir & The Piment Rouge. And they also have some great Greek/Mediterranean restaurants. There was even a place in Montreal that even did Cajun. I managed to get there 3 times before I left.

    Good night, Sojo

My internet connection is being sucky! Are you saying these neighbors and strangers are stealing my bandwidth? I didn’t actually try to understand. Shall I charge up my devices and then cause a blackout so I can have internet access?

Then whatever GoComics has been doing has been blocking me from comments on Fiend. So… even more often I end up hit and run commenting.
