The insanity defense works far less often than most people believe. The news just covers it more often than the people who plead insanity but the court finds them sane enough to stand trial…especially here in Texas where the truly mentally ill and those with physical brain disorders or deformities are put to death like any sane person. Texas, our state motto is “Guns, guns, guns and more guns even if you have the mental capacity of a 6 year old; and we even put the sick and mentally ill to death; why’d we put a man on his death bed to death.” Yes, it is a long motto but everything is bigger in Texas.
