I love this joke, but I liked the version from ‘Academia Waltz’ better.

I never noticed when reading this strip in the 1980s – she is talking about football while standing in front of home plate.

American culture? The only “real american” culture I know of is country music (IF you consider it to be culture). Everything else is created by the liberal elite. ;)

You’ve got that right wittyvegan, I was growing up in a “real” American culture where we actually had morals and values and stood as an example of greatness for the rest of the world. Now, the liberal elite have reduced us to a bunch of socially correct neurotics and our so called President is going to turn us into a socialist state. I’m glad I’m old and won’t be here much longer. But I dread what my grand kids are going to have to deal with. Oh, and by the way, I like country music too.

doctortoon - Thanks for the definition of “Troll”. I try to stay on topic until someone decides to do something ill-mannered or goes off topic. Although I do confess I get a bit exuberant at times….

BTW - I had to do a forced shut-down twice today after visiting gocomics. Computer stuck “clocking”. What works for me is:

a) Escape Key b) ctrl + alt + delete c) hold down “off button” for at least to a count of 5 & then release.

Then a pop-up box comes on & asks me if I really want to shut down, restart, cancel. It may take a couple of cycles of forced shut-down to actually get the computer to do IT.

Had to do it twice before I could get it to shut down & re-start to be able to log onto my home page.

This strip reminds me of a bit from the TV show “Taxi,” when Latka can’t figure out how football teams are named; the Giants are no bigger than the other team, and the Redskins are almost all black. 8)

you also forgot all the songs that are tributes to parents, kids, soldiers posted in foreign countries, etc. country music is the only type of music that can occasionally bring a tear to this cynical eye. i don’t consider myself a “fan” by any stretch (since I prefer hard rock and classical), but good music is good music whatever genre you want to brand it with.

We’re a little off topic, but I’ll bite. Country music may not be giving us much now, but in the past it gave us Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. It can coast from there.
