So much better than including the Christian god, religious freedom is a good thing, and it’s not really religious freedom, if people who choose to believe in another religion, or choose to not be religious at all, are forced to swear by Christianity.
I’m Belgian and moved to the US about 5 years ago, and even I know that “under God” was added later to the pledge. If you really don’t like it, maybe write an entire new pledge, that has not been written by an actual socialist.
