Why does Garfield eat birds but not mice?

I am reminded of a great TV show … The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, where Sylvester is trying to teach his boy how to hunt mice. One runs into the case of a Kangaroo and then hilarity ensues …

@ Allan - I was thinking of it when I posted the comment. I’ve never seen it, but it came up in a conversation and sounded hilarious.

By Jon’s reaction in panel 2, it looks like that mouse tried playing Garfield’s tuba (from a previous strip).

HA! HA-HA! HO-HO, HE-HE-HE! um, I mean lol.

The Hot Pink background was a nice touch.

At the start of “Garfield” in 1978, the title character said to “show [him] a good mouser, and [he’ll] show [us] a cat with bad breath.” That could explain why Garfield doesn’t do mice.
