Good morning Tribe!
Here’s breakfast…
Home made pancakes with whipped cream an strawberries accompanied by Canadian bacon and maple syrup. Topped by a fried egg. Freshly squeezed orange juice and of course, DocT’s nuclear coffee. For those who prefer them, wheat germ muffins or crumpets with butter and honey . Or perhaps Quaby left some Krispy Kremes in the corner?
Terry, Did you leave too?
I am finally able to sit up for a while without too much discomfort so I stopped in to find out that pigs do fly - or do they?
A quick breakfast menu and then off to Zzzzzzzzzland!!
Eggs, your choice(cheese available on request)
Bacon, sausage patties or links, ham
Texas or wheat toast
Hash browns with onions and green pepper
Asst juices
Decaf coffee or Doc’s* Nuclear coffee
Tabby, I, for one, am glad you feel you can be yourself with the Tribe and not worry about all the spelling conventions. You have enough of that in school. Hope your essay went well. Just remember that as long as you back up your arguments with logic and if possible quotations (or others’ ideas for which you give credit ) and give it a strong conclusion you should do well. *DF* is right - format can give you ten percent more.
Morning, Marg. I’ve had a big problem with a back problem that has affected the nerves in my lower body as well as arthritis that has plagued me for several years. Unfortunately learned that surgery is not an option - too many things wrong that could be worsened. Sitting is very uncomfortable. Ah well, I’m feeling better tonight than I have for several weeks.
comics.
i can drink coffee when i’m doing other things. i can’t read comics when i’m doing other things. still, i read comics! (and more often than i drink coffee)
(and even though i should be doing other things)
hi Carmy and Doc T
thanks for brekkie DawnAvril and Terry
special thanks to Dry for recommendations in Ithaca.
i was too busy last night looking up tourist info to read up on all the posts, but i did finish page two. time for catch up on the toons. bbl
Tabby - I want to apologize if I hurt your feelings. You are so sweet, I would never want to hurt you. I wasn’t laughing at YOU, I was laughing at what you SPELLED. (You’ve got to admit, “puppy dong eyes” gives an entirely different mental image than “puppy dog eyes” which I knew what was you meant.)
People can make fun of how much (and the way) I talk or how klutzy I am all day long, and I don’t take offense. Sorry, if your spelling is a sore spot. (Just like my weight is with me.) I’ll not joke about it again.
I thought I was the only one with this problem. While I don’t have breast cancer, I do have colon cancer and I am still undergoing chemo treatments, I’m already having these problems.
Women who survive breast cancer often have to adapt their lives to cope with “chemobrain” – symptoms such as memory loss, loss of concentration or other cognitive changes – after their treatment, a new report says.
Survivors of other cancers have also reported cognitive problems, but the study only addressed breast-cancer survivors.
if i forget the proper word, or term, or whatever, i blame it on having too much in there to search through. (or on my thoughts running faster than my mouth can speak.)
Thanks for the hugs, johnny, Doc and RRA!
I’ve never heard of Aricept, is that a memory enhancer medication? I wouldn’t take it.
johnny, I have to constantly write notes to myself to stay in the loop. It’s bad when I jot down a note and I can’t remember what it was about. LOLS! Now I try to be very detailed in my notes.
Doc, I can blame the 70’s and 80’s too.
Dry the links did help, i need to go more in depth (i.e. take longer to read them more thoroughly) but i still have a bit of time. also, i would have figured the note on your bugle to say, ”TOOT” but that’s just me.
Carmy i’ve had a facility with numbers as long as i can remember. math was always my strongest subject in school days. i work in inventory control, and constantly amaze my coworkers by multiplying things like qty per box times number of boxes per case times cases in the locator without using a calculator. i know most people don’t do that sort of thing very well, but i’ve always been good at it.
Hope when the Bacon soars, Barkeater Lake’s Banks (the bacon-addicted dog) won’t get a treat…
Edit: alas, the strip is due to end on the last day of October. And we’ve missed a few weeks more due to the author’s business, being concerned with this “real life” so many are involved in. Pshaw!
Hi Red and Rad
(thought i missed you, didn’t you Rad.)
Carmy due to the fact that i’m a constant reader, i also have a huge vocabulary. once i discovered trivia, i found i could remember all sorts of useless things that few people care about. my mind is the opposite of Sherlock Holmes neatly ordered storeroom of things that only applied to his work. it’s a totally haphazard clutter of an attic, which is what makes things hard to find at times.
yyyguy make sure you do a walking tour of the Cornell campus. It is beautiful with the waterfalls, etc. and be sure you stand on the hill and gaze out over the countryside. What a view! And if you’re into this, don’t forget the Cornell Plantations!
yyyguy, that’s why you love to do crossword puzzles, etc.
I used to also and it helped me retain lots of info. I’ve been to busy lately to keep up with that. I would do the daily crossword and Sudoku all the time.
Dry i’ve seen the National Geographic link to the wine tour, but i’m not much of a wino (yes, i know it should be oenophile). i’ll probably check out one or two that have good views. i also intend to visit Taughannock Falls. (if i can hike the 20 minutes along the trail. last time i took a “brief 10 minute walk” it wound up being almost straight up the mountain to get to the lookout for Peytoe Lake.) my nephew will probably provide a few other options. i figure, 1 day to drive there, 1 day to return, and 3 days to look around - though i will have some time on the days i arrive and depart as well. it’s about a 5 hour trip (per mapquest).
bmonk i’ve seen that look many a time! LOL
(my nieces tell me i’m weird right to my face - but i know they adore me so i don’t mind.)
Carmy it’s actually puzzle time now. comics aren’t the only thing i need to catch up on.
@yyyguy, they say my grandfather, back in the days when storeclerks had to add up the prices to figure out the total, regularly had the correct change out before the clerk figured what the total was. He had added the numbers in his head, reading them upside down.
yyyguy, I, too, found numbers to be my strong point, and that vat of useless information often gives people the misconception that I am smart.
Speaking of useless trivia, Sherlock Holmes’ place was apparently quite cluttered, I was just reading the chapter where Dr. Watson is at his wits’ end with all the clutter and finally demands that he clean it up. So you can be proud to be similar to Holmes in that regard too.
hi saucyjohnny Holmes had a very cluttered abode, but his mind was as orderly as anything could be (“A Study in Scarlet” provides the passage i cited above, though i believe the phrase used was “lumber room” rather than “attic”)
@yyyguy, I remember both. Not that the times tables did me that much good, as I recall. I’m the sort of person who can cause a calculation to go wrong simply by being in the same room. Now, reportedly there are famous mathematicians who cannot calculate to save their life, and can even cause others to miscalculate by being nearby. I have everything but the fame.
also, there is a big difference between intelligence and wisdom. my brother-in-law used to say i was a smart guy who occasionally did dumb things. i know i’ve gained some wisdom over the years. the biggest thing i learned was that you don’t need to be smart to be wise.
I’m w/yyyguy on the brain cluttered w/trivial items that someone somewhere may be interested in sometime. Mine gets dusty but spiders don’t have time to set up housekeeping so it’s not as bad as it once was.
Deposit to the bank & then off to a walking tour of toon-town. All have a great weekend!
Ah, I haven’t quite gotten that far in the book yet. My mistake.
Anyone can be intelligent (though many aren’t), common sense goes a lot further. Welp, I got another class to get to. All in this endeavor to get a better job so I don’t have to work as hard as everyone else, and can retire earlier, when I am too tired and old to do anything that I want to do now.
Ain’t life great!
I believe laughter is a gift from God. tabby, your misspelling was funny to some and and the humor that resulted involved the misspelling, not you. There have been times when other people here have misspelled words, laughter was shared and a good time was had by all. Perhaps you were embarassed by what you wrote, so I’m sorry if I embarassed you further.
I believe in laughter. I believe in being silly. I believe a person cannot be completely healthy if they can’t just let go and belly laugh. Laugher is very healing. Learning to laugh is a baby’s first job, and learning to laugh at oneself is the first step in realizing a very basic connection to the rest of the human race. I hope you understand what I’m saying and forgive me.
Sleep well, DocT!
Howdy Tribe.
Thanks for the wishes everyone - they help.
((((Carmy))))
I’m sure the chemo must wreak havoc on everything - you certainly seem to cope very well, though. I think the comics help, and so does the Tribe.
To choose between Big Top and coffee -
I am running late today. Last night’s sleep was not good. Severe headache most of the night. Even kept little wolfangil awake. I despise headaches or any apin to my head/face area!!
Hi again!
Dry, I’ve been a cynic for four years now. There is an interesting correlation there, but we’ll not worry about that. I am always the most positive pessimist you’ll ever meet…
…or is that most negative optimist… :)
I try to hang up on RL but it just keeps calling. Sometimes answering is better than letting it go to voice mail. Today is one of those days so here’s another deposit for those who need it.
Carmy said: Women who survive breast cancer often have to adapt their lives to cope with “chemobrain” – symptoms such as memory loss, loss of concentration or other cognitive changes – after their treatment…
Heck I suffer from that all on my own! Yesterday was especially bad. I feel your pain, my sister.
(((Marg))) I hope you’re feeling better today, are you?
Have you ever seen the America’s Funniest Video that shows the dog lying in a chair, chewing on a bone, he has an itch in his ear and when he starts to scratch his ear with his back paw, he starts to snarl, growl and snap at his back paw because he thinks it’s another dog’s paw trying to steal his bone? (it’s pretty hilarious!)
I’ve felt that disconnected before. During one of my worst MS attacks, years before I was diagnosed and knew what was going on, I couldn’t remember to go to work, I was forgetting appts, where I parked my car, etc. I thought I was going crazy.
Of course, no one else noticed anything unusual - LOL!
Finaly able to get on here. i do need to do something abou this the adds and c r a p are getting on my last nerve. and the one doc told akenta to use wont work on my computer bc i dont have the right internet. :( somone help me.
tabby HEY KIDDO! Just stopped in to check, have to be back after bit.
I know you’re a struggling colege kid, but if you can become a genius for $11.99 FOR THE YEAR, you don’t get ads and you get the archives from years back on your strips. Something to think about.
PLUS you than become a GENIUS, it says so right beside your name! ROFLMAO!!!!
LOL Dry i would love to do that, but i need to save up to buy a car and i just cant spend that for the year… if i would have to pay for all the other junk i could. it would be great.
Carmy hope your well.
i started to catch up then i gave up. my head hurts. so how are we doing today?

Hello Tribe! Sorry I disappeared earlier. Had to run some errands with the hubby. We picked up daughter #3’s drum kit. She’s in beginner band. It has a xylophone, mallets, drumsticks, a practice drum pad, a stand and a music holder> Oh my poor ears! Daughter #2 is in symphonic and she plays the flute. I may need to run away soon.
Thank you everyone for the hugs and kind words. I sincerely appreciate them very much!dcguys, long time no see. Hope all is well with you!
Marg, I’m so sorry you feel my pain! (((((Marg)))))Tabby, I am doing okay. I hope you are too.
I will be scarce as I have family stuff to do this evening. I’ll try to pop in later tonight.
Carmy You may be surprised! Our oldest took up the clarinet in 5th grade, at first it was BAD but he got to be VERY VERY good at it! Unfortunately, he didn’t go into high school concert band, but he still played on his own here at home. Now after graduating college, he wishes he had done it different. Point being, your kids may surprise you and be VERY GOOD and you will enjoy it!! :-D
lonewolf last night, go back and look you were running from Dry and Carmy and took to the trees and fought a squirl out of it.. i sware im not making this up…
DONT MAKE ME START SINGING AGAIN!!! IT CAN BE VERY UGLY. IM TELLING YOU TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. YOU ALL JUST RUN AWAY NO ONE SAYS BYE THESE DAYS I SWARE!
Hi, tabby! It has been a long day for me. I just now finished up my comic rounds, and will be heading to bed soon. I hope you read my apology I wrote this morning.
it is empty i was going crazy talking to lynn she was fun and all but i like to have more then one person. it gets boring if you only talk to one person
This is unusual for it to be this empty on a Friday night. I don’t know if I’ll make it to the turnover. Last night I was up all night with what I guess was a migraine headache. I don’t know cause I’ve never had one before. I guess it’s from the meds!!
what did it feel like L ? did it hurt to be in the light? sound? and moving? if so yep that was a migraine. oh and did you want to toss up your stomach?
did you see i said it was unusual for it to be like this earlyer wehn i was talking to lynn, or maybe lynn said that to me. idk. lol
you did indeed have one. i get them all the time the more extreem ones is when you toss up your stomach. lol i get them not as often. the only thing to do then is to lay donw in the dark with no noise at all. for like 12 hours sometime 8 normaly till you can move again and think without your head hurting. mine get so bad my eyes feel like they are going to fall out, my head is pounding and feels like its on fire. and this happens on a reg basies. its just lovely let me tell you.
NOPE my father does not think i have problesm he thinks they are just plane old every day head aches…. well the doc said you should not have headaches every day and gave me butt loads of pamplets on them… getting throug them slowly. lol they just make it hurt worse.
good days is right. i’m well. i’m glad u don’t let the headaches or much of anything get you very far down. u seem to bounce back no matter what! you’ve got a great heart! we appreciate that you share it with us!
DC has been the usual hot, then cool, then humid, then rainy. it’s one of the original places that ‘if u don’t like the weather…wait 5 minutes’ truly applies!
Did lovers really fall in love to stay?
Stand beside each other come what may?
Was a promise really something people kept,
Not just something they would say and then forget?
Did families really bow their heads to pray?
Did daddies really never go away?
Whoa oh Grandpa,
Tell me ‘bout the good ole days
Tabby, I fell asleep right after dinner. I got up when a friend called me from Texas. We chatted for some time. We had catching up to do. Now I’m wide awake.
Carmy same thing i did… waiting for someone else to post… so i was going crazier earler talking to lynn… people my sign me up for the lonnie bin if im not careful.
glad you got to talk to her… its great hearing from friends.
