If the shirt becomes shorter (see Brutus belly button?), it shrunk from water that was too hot. If the length is unchanged but it’s too tight, the wearer added weight.

I’d also go with washing in too hot water……

I don’t like ordering from non American companies online, because their XXL sizes are not the same.
