I hate paying taxes, but I sure do enjoy the good results of funding the government, even when they spend some of it on idiocy… bureaucracies are noted for spending too much and for wrong things… but not entirely. Thinking of it as noise in the system makes it mostly not so bad for me to think about.

I live on the Canadian Prairies. Spring never shows up until well into April, and my taxes are due April 30.

I filed my taxes a few weeks ago, with the assistance of an AARP Tax Clinic a church friend (who used to work for the IRS until she retired) volunteers at. It wasn’t really that bad, I paid Uncle Sam a few hundred dollars and will get a nice refund from DC. It’s something we have to do each year, and hopefully we can get Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk (and other billionaires) to pay their fair share.
