You are right Arlo. Let’s see if we can drag this out for a few more weeks.

I’m still waiting for the “both” option to win over the “either / or” but lately I’ve been thinking about JJ’s feelings. He’s adopted the coast as his home and may like to see Arlo and Janis do the same instead of becoming dreaded Snowbirds.

I’ve seen 3 year olds make better decisions faster and make me laugh in the process.

Mr Johnson once said about creating A&J: "I’ve always enjoyed serial strips, but they change the nature of the product. Ultimately, I think I prefer the gag-a-day format, done well. The ‘done well’ part is crucial.

Well, we’ve most definitely changed the nature of the product, its not well done, it’s making me gag, and worst of all it’s no longer funny.

A&J has been my favorite strip since the 80’s and I eagerly awaited each new strip because it made me laugh. Now it mostly frustrates me. This is sad!

I think Janis doesn’t want to move. She has a good teaching job and probably doesn’t like one season all year long. I hope they stay where they are.

Are we perhaps seeing a game of reluctance ping-pong? Neither really wants to move, but each wants the other to take the decision?

Our latest move was driven by my wife’s new job. The 2.5-3.5 hours on the road was not good. So, we moved. Six weeks after the move – 100% WFH! We hadn’t even put the prior house on the market. But, nicer house, nicer neighborhood. She has a great home office here.

All it’s going to take to push them both is a baby announcement.

I don’t think Arlo really wants to move either. He enjoys visiting, but he is like me. My sister wanted me to go live where she does, but I told her the next move I make will be out at the family plot.

When one moves, the ghosts of your past may not come with you. Moving is back breaking work, and older people don’t always bounce back like they once did. It can be difficult for older folks to move in ways young people can’t imagine, as the way we live our lives is different. My grandparents held onto EVERYTHING! Why? because they lived through the great depression, where everything could be reused and repurposed over and over! Do we need all of that stuff today? Right now? No. The keep sakes that are precious to my wife or myself, are touchstones to our past, and although my children may understand that, the items hold less value to them, and are perhaps worthless to my grandchildren! All of this is up for grabs in a relocation!

Hey, Jimmy: maybe it’s time for a reader poll! I vote for… wait a minute, I need to consider… no, that doesn’t sound right… but that means… I’ll be back later.

One thing that can make them choose the Guest House is a possible BABY on the way!

If it’s this hard to decide then it’s not the right time.

We probably have to wait for Jimmy Johnson after he moved down there himself to gather a few more memories and stories. He can’t make Arlo and Janice switch places and just carry on telling the little banters of house, garden, and partnership with a blue instead of a brown couch.

When we got married we had an apartment within 5 minutes of husband’s family home which was about half an hour from my family home. When we bought a house we moved about a half a mile from our apartment. This is also about 20 minutes from the college we both went to and met at – and each lived at home even then.

He keeps talking (for decades) about moving to Lancaster, PA or Williamsburg, VA. I really don’t want to move at all. I also look around the house and figuring what we would insist on taking with us – I get exhausted at the thought of dealing plus the cost of doing so – including major wood working tools which could not be replaced if we sold them for the move.
